Hi, I'm Donards! (Yes, do not miss the 'S' at the end)

I currently work as a Senior Research Charge Nurse at Jessop Wing, where I’m involved in clinical research and helping bring potentially life-changing and practice-improving studies and clinical trials into patient care. I’ve been in the UK for the past four years, and I can honestly say I’ve been loving every day of the journey so far!

Originally from the Philippines, radio has been a big part of my life for much longer than my time in healthcare. I was a licensed radio broadcaster, accredited by the national league of broadcasters in the Philippines, and have been involved in radio for more than a decade, starting way back when I was still in college. Even while working full-time, I always made sure to find time for radio, particularly hosting weekend programmes, because presenting has always been something I genuinely love.

I’m a big fan of music from the yesteryears, especially the 80s, 90s and 00s. I love surfing the airwaves, having a chat on the mic and, most importantly, playing music that can connect with people. For me, music can be incredibly therapeutic. Sometimes all you need is a familiar song to give you a little break from a busy or mundane day, take you somewhere else for a few minutes, or bring back a really good memory.

Now that I’m here in the UK, I’m looking forward to discovering more about British music and exploring genres and artists that might be new to me. But wherever we come from or whatever language we speak, I truly believe music is the universal language and I’m really excited to share it, learn along the way, and hopefully bring a little bit of joy to your day by playing your favourites through Sheffield Hospital Radio!
