Pete Brettle

Born and raised in the city, Pete got his first taste of radio as a volunteer with Hospital Radio in Bristol when he was a student. After more formal training at The National Broadcasting School, Pete returned to his home city and joined Sheffield Hospital Radio that at the time was called Northern Radio whilst looking for professional work. As luck had it he ended up at Radio Hallam, the station that had inspired his interest in the medium, where he spent six years.

As well as presenting many shows across the day on Radio Hallam he also presented for the Yorkshire Radio Network broadcasting to 3 radio stations at the same time. Pete could be heard on Radio Hallam, Pennine Radio and Viking Radio.

During this time he continued to support Hospital Broadcasting Sheffield as it was known then and was also part of the team behind Meadowhall Radio broadcasting each Christmas and summer from the Meadowhall Shopping centre. Since then Pete has been involved in a couple of community stations while living across the Pennines, and is now your weekday teatime host on Sheffield Hospital Radio.

Pete is married with three grandkids and still enjoys going to gigs from time to time. His last gig was to see Sting. Money permitting Pete likes to travel and given the opportunity you'll find him by a pool with a cocktail in hand somewhere warm and sunny.
